In the 1950s, Giorgio Buffon planted his first vineyards in Castello Roganzuolo, bringing home a rare red grape variety from southern France. Guided by his oenological studies, he crafted a bold, structured wine that reflected his character, and sparked a lifelong pursuit of winemaking excellence.
His sons Querino and Cleris carried the vision forward, refining the craft with knowledge from the Ancient Oenological School of Conegliano. Since the 1980s, the Buffon family has blended tradition with innovation, expanding their vineyards and producing wines that honor the land and their father's pioneering spirit.
Each bottle of Buffon wine carries the soul of a family deeply rooted in tradition, guided by the same values for three generations, harvest after harvest, with care, integrity, and passion. From the very beginning, the Buffon family has pursued excellence through constant experimentation and a commitment to improving the quality of their wines, while remaining true to their heritage.
Family is at the heart of every step. The Buffon family personally oversees the entire production cycle — from cultivating the vines to harvesting, vinifying, and bottling — ensuring that every glass reflects their dedication. Over time, the family has grown, supported by expert oenologists and skilled technicians who share the same strong work ethic and respect for the craft.
Buffon wines are more than a product; they are a celebration of the land. In every sip, you can taste not only the knowledge and passion behind their creation but also the unique identity of the territory that nurtures them.
The Buffon family has long recognized that true quality begins with respect for the land. Their dedication to sustainable practices has earned the company and its vineyards the SQNPI certification (National Quality System of Integrated Production), a mark of environmentally responsible farming.
Since 2011, the winery has produced nearly all of its own electricity through renewable energy sources, significantly reducing its environmental impact. Every step of their work — recovering pruning residues, repurposing byproducts from winemaking, maintaining woodland areas, and mowing grass without the use of herbicides — is done with a natural, ethical approach that prioritizes balance with nature.
Sustainability isn’t just a choice at Buffon, it’s a way of life, passed down through generations and rooted in deep respect for the land that gives their wines life.
Over time, the winery gradually welcomes new cutting-edge equipment and begins to distinguish itself for its oenological experimentation and for the production of various types of wine that are an expression of the territory with an unmistakable style and to receive various awards for the qualitative consistency of its production.
Today, Querino's children continue the family winemaking tradition, following in their grandfather's footsteps and giving the company a new direction, bringing further innovation while respecting and enhancing the old peasant traditions.
This adventure has lasted for more than SIXTY HARVESTS, with the same enchantment as the first. The same commitment as always in interpreting the wine panorama in a respectful, broad and varied way.
